Description[]

Powerups are an essential part of both Astro Party and Astro Duel, providing the necessary advantages to turn the tide of battle and win the match. This article will provide a brief summary of each usable powerup in Astro Party and Astro Duel.

Most powerups in Astro Party prevent shooting regular bullets, with the exception of Jousters, unlike in Astro Duel, where the powerup button is separate from the shoot button.

Laser Beam[]

This powerup shoots a narrow blue beam in a straight line that destroys anything in its path. The only time a hit ship can survive a laser beam is if it is in its invincibility frames after getting hit by a bullet or the laser did not touch the ship for enough frames.

Laser deployed

Jouster[]

Ship with shield, superdash, and jousters

This powerup destroys anything the ship gets into physical contact with, but has limited durability.

Proximity Mine[]

Proximity mine sprite

This powerup destroys anything in a large radius (possibly including the user) when an enemy ship gets too close, or is ignited by bullets, lasers, or even other proximity mines.

Scatter Shot[]

Scattershot deployed

This powerup shoots 24 evenly spaced-out pellets in a circle around the user.

Auto-Turret[]

Auto turret deployed

This powerup disables regular shooting and replaces it with an auto-aiming turret.

Side Cannons[]

Side cannons deployed

This powerup adds 2 extra pellets to a player's bullets. They cannot drop from orange asteroids or by the map spawns, only as a Starting powerup, or through autobalance (the player must be at least 8 points behind the leader)

Reverse All[]

Reverse all used

This powerup reverses the steering direction of ships. It functions differently in Astro Party and in Astro Duel. In Astro Party, since ships can only turn to the right, the Reverse All powerup causes ships to turn to the left instead. In Astro Duel, ships can turn in either direction, so those controls are simply reversed. Cannot be a starting powerup, but can spawn as part of the map or from orange asteroids.

Shields[]

Shields

Blue forcefields that protect from a single bullet, upon which the ship gains invincibility frames for a short time. In Astro Party, cannot be dropped from Orange Asteroids or spawned by the map, but only appear as a starting powerup, separate from the other regular starting powerups. They also appear when Autobalance is turned on and a player is at least 2-3 points behind the leader.

Missile[]

An Astro Duel-exclusive powerup. Explodes upon contact with asteroids, map geometry, or a ship.

Reflector[]

An Astro Duel-exclusive powerup.
